Sports Awards Ceremony 2018

Our annual Sports Awards ceremony took place yesterday, Wednesday 27th June. The ceremony celebrates all pupils who have represented Falkirk High in sport this year. The guest speaker is former FHS pupil, Glasgow Rocks basketball player and Commonwealth Semi Finalist, Jonny Bunyan. Well done to all of our award winners.

 

STEM@ the Helix -  Well Done 

Two groups of our S2 pupils competed in the STEM@ the Helix project challenge final on Tuesday 19th June.  One group designing a Concert Venue for the Great Lawn at the Helix Park and the other designing an eco-friendly walkway and viewing platform, ‘The Canopy’s Secret’ for the Helix Park.  Both teams gave excellent presentations’ to the judges and should be proud of the work they have completed over the last few weeks.   The Canopy’s Secret team won the trophy for the most innovative project on the night, a worthy reward for their efforts.  The Canopy’s Secret team were, Rowan Brockie, Jessica Mackie, Finlay Minto, John Docherty, Rubi Ballingall, Kathryn Rous, Lily Scholz, Mille Black.  The Concert Venue team were, Zosia Chamczyk, Abbie Ewing, Jodie McNie, Carys McGarva, Andrew Stoddart & Andrew McKinlay.

 

Bloodhound Challenge - Well Done 

A massive well done to our S2 Bloodhound Challenge team who competed at Forth Valley College on Tuesday 19th June.  No one could beat their original winning time of 0.8 seconds.  The judges were so impressed they emailed the school to commend the team on their maturity and enthusiasm.  This team was Maddy Smart, Surabhi Yadav, Anna Steel, Zoe Campbell, Lucy Waddell, Libby Smith, Jorja Anderson, Emma Wilson, Kiara Reid and Lila Young.

 

Sports Day

We held our annual Sports Day event on Monday 25th June. During period 1 all S2 events took place, period 2 saw all S3 Events, period 3 was the turn of S4 Events, period 4 was used for any catch up events not completed and period 5 saw all S5/6 Events. During period 6 the whole school spectated for the final of the tug of war and all relay races.  Winning house for Sports Day 2018 was Campbell House. Well done to everyone who took part!

 

Interhouse Scores

The Interhouse scores after the P7 / S1 spelling Bee were as follows: - in 1st place was Mackay house, in 2nd place was Campbell House, in 3rd place was Cameron House and in 4th place was Robertson House. Scores after May attendance, the spelling and sports day are:: in 1st place with 532 points is Campbell House, in 2nd place with 476 points is Cameron House, in 3rd place with 468 points is Mackay House and in 4th place with 456 points is Robertson House. Only June attendance to go before the Interhouse Cup winner is announced!

 

Interhouse Cup Winners 2017 – 2018

The final interhouse results for 2017/18 are as follows: in 4th place was Robertson House with 460 points, in 3rd place was Mackay House with 471 points in 2nd place was Cameron House with 482 points and the winners of Interhouse 2017/18 are... CAMPBELL HOUSE with 535 points. Congratulations to Mr Barton and his red army of competitors who took part in interhouse this year! Mr Barton and Campbell House have done the double winning sports day and the interhouse cup.

 

EMA for Session 2018/19

EMA applications for 2018/19 can be made from next week. Applications can only be done on-line, no paper application forms are being delivered to the school.

Anyone with difficulties with the on-line application should contact the Council on 01324 503850.

 

Cancer Research Fundraising

Well done to Lucy Niblo and Ella Hayward who have raised £1000 for Cancer Research by completing a sponsored walk from the Falkirk Wheel to the Kelpies as well as hosting a Quiz night at the Dawson Centre in Langlees.
