Higher Music has three main sections, all of which contribute to the final grade:

• Performing (50%): Perform for 12 minutes (minimum) - 13 minutes (maximum) on two instruments - Grade 4 Standard minumum.
• Composing (15%): Compose one piece of music (20 marks) and review your composition process (10 marks). The composition must last between 1 minute (minimum) and 3 minutes 30 seconds (maximum).
• Understanding Music (35%): Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of level-specific music concepts, musical literacy, and analysis of music. Exam paper will last 1 hour (40 marks).

Higher is assessed externally.
