In National 3 Applications of Maths, there are 2 main units.

Shape, Space and Measures has 2 outcomes. Outcome 1 is 'use shape and space in basic real-life contexts' which involves calculating perimeters and areas of 2D shapes, calculating volumes of cuboids, giving and following directions and working with simple patterns. Outcome 2 is 'use measures in basic real-life contexts' which involves using units of measurement, using simple formulae, interpreting scale drawings, applying a scale factor and calculating time intervals to manage activities. 

Manage Money and Data also has 2 outcomes. Outcome 1 is 'manage money in basic real-life contexts' which involves factors affecting income, preparing a budget, developing a savings plan, and making a decision based on the best deal. Outcome 2 is 'manage data in basic real-life contexts' which involves organising primary data, simple calculations to compare data, representing data in an appropriate format and interpreting data to come to a conclusion.

Pupils will sit unit assessments in order to achieve this qualification.
