National 4 Administration & IT
Involves studying 2 mandatory units (IT Solutions, Administrative Practices and Communication) and an Added Value Unit.
This course aims to enable learners to:
- develop a basic understanding of administration in the workplace and key legislation affecting employees
- develop an appreciation of good customer care
- develop IT skills and use them to perform straightforward administrative tasks
National 5 Administration & IT
Building on work covered in S3 the course develops skills, knowledge and understanding in using spreadsheets, databases, word-processing, desktop publishing and presentations.
Other aims include developing an understanding of administration theory in the workplace and acquiring organisational skills in the context of organising and supporting events.
Pupils are assessed through an Assignment (58%) and Exam (42%), both of which are completed on the computer giving pupils the opportunity to demonstrate both practical skills using Microsoft Office and theory knowledge.
Higher Administration & IT
Building on National 5 this course helps candidates to develop advanced administrative skills and digital literacy, enabling them to contribute to the effective functioning of organisations in supervisory administrative positions.
They develop the ability to use a range of advanced software application functions covering word processing, spreadsheets, databases and emerging technologies.
Pupils are assessed through an Assignment (practical skills - 58%) and Exam (theory - 42%).
