S1 Business Education
In S1 pupils currently have a combined Computing Science and Business Education course covering Outcomes and Experiences from A Curriculum for Excellence.
Pupils learn about Internet Safety, Creating web pages, coding using Scratch, Presentations and Databases
S1 & S2 Business Education
S1 Business Education
In S1 pupils study Business Education on a rotation with Computing Science and spend half the year in each.
Pupils develop digital literacy skills by creating Presentations, Spreadsheets and Databases. They learn about the world of business in a group project inspired by The Dragon’s Den.
S2 Business Education
In S1 pupils study Business Education on a rotation with Computing Science and spend half the year in each.
Pupil deepen their knowledge of Business by creating a business proposal for a new local business in a group project called the Falkirk Regeneration Project. We look at topics such as types of businesses, business location, financing a business and advertising. We also continue to develop our IT skills through a range projects which utilise a range of digital skills.
The topics covered in S1 and S2 give a taster of what to expect from Admin & IT and Business in S3 and beyond.
S3 Admin & IT
In S3 Admin & IT courses our pupils develop their IT skills using desktop publishing, word processing, presentations, electronic communication. We also introduce some admin theory.
These skills will continue to be developed as they progress into National courses in Admin & IT and also in their work in other subjects across the school.
S3 Business
In S3 Business courses our pupils learn about what a business is, the different ways they function and what it takes to make them successful. They look at marketing, social media and how businesses influence customers to make purchases. They have a brief introduction to finance and accounting, human resources and operations which is built on in S4.
S3 Wider Achievement - Business Enterprise
S3 pupils can opt-in to an enterprise class involving digital art creation, 3D printing and enterprise activities. Pupils create designs that can be printed onto coasters, mugs, t-shirt, pencil cases etc or created using the 3D printers.
