Excellence in learning and teaching is central to the Falkirk High School vision. 

It refers to the high standards and quality learning experiences, planned and delivered by each teacher to maximise the attainment

and achievement of all pupils in Falkirk High School. It is important that our pupils feel safe, valued and included, therefore relationship-led practice should be rooted in every lesson to create a positive learning environment, where pupils feel ‘Ready to Learn’. By creating engaging and inclusive learning environments, using innovative teaching methods and technologies, teachers will strive to meet the diverse needs of all of our learners, in all lessons. High-quality teaching can positively impact learner engagement, motivation and behaviour. When teachers use appropriate methodologies and strategies to help create a positive and engaging learning environment, learners are more likely to be interested, lead their own learning and become invested in their education.

As a school, consistency is crucial for effective learning, teaching and assessment in all our classrooms, in all faculties, across the school.

Teachers aim for consistency by implementing our FHS Learning Routine into everyday practice. The FHS Learning Routine has been co-created in collaboration with staff and our pupil learning ambassador group to reflect our shared values and aspirations.

It is intended to be a consistent framework that supports high-quality learning and teaching across our school community.
